Mera Luna Festival 2011

It's a very nice, small festival in Hildesheim, Germany. It actually started out as not so nice, since it was so wet that we were afraid we might have to sleep in the car. But thankfully the rain stopped at some point, we got the tents up halfway dry and could at least sleep in a sleeping bag... Concerts were really cool, met a lot of nice people and half of the festival happened without any more rain (yeah, that's really something special this summer)! One of my favourites was Apocalyptica, as always their show was amazing. Here are my two masterpieces :)

Other very good bands were Projekt Pitchfork, Julien-K, Nachtmahr and ASP. A lot of the bands were German, but still fantastic! The other photos are here:

Biggest Heavy Metal Open Air in the world and it was fantastic! Cool people, sleeping in tents, much too less sleep and really, really good bands. Below are the pictures. The best bands were definitely Apocalyptica, Heaven Shall Burn and, a real surprise, Dir En Grey, a japanese Metal band.

Life's been quite okay. Below are loads of photos of what happened lately. I haven't been writing about the trip to Prague yet, but here goes!

It's a magnificent city, I have rarely seen such a beautiful city. It really impressed me. Everything's so beautiful and old, everything's mixed up, the styles of Architecture, I mean, and in between there's life. if you ever happen to be somewhere around, definitely go to see Prague! And for all AFI fans: the bridge where the video for "Silver and Cold" was shot is in Prague. It's the Manesuv Most, crossing the Vlatava River.

Then I spend some time at home with my family and afterwards went back to Berlin. Beautiful as always, but right now very cold.

I finally managed to see the new X-Men and it was brilliant. I mean it blew my mind. I really like X-Men and that one was the best so far. I simply loved it. The story is fantastic and all the stories that are told and all the allusions to the other movies. Go watch it, even if you are not a X-Men fan, the movie might be of interest...

Today I spent the day in the tropics, right here around the corner... It's called tropical islands and it's like an indoor holiday park with a beach and a lagoon... and 26°C, which I really need.

Ah yeah, I saw Harry Potter, of course. very impressive. Going to see it again tomorrow. I really like Snape and feel very, very sorry for him. He really didn't have anything nice in his life.

A lot has been happening and I haven't found time to post it until now...

Me and some friends went to Leipzig to the WGT (Wave-Gotik-Treffen), the biggest happening of the black scene in Europe.

Wow. That was fantastic, impressive and fun! Here's a picture:

So, a week later I went to a Festival here in Berlin, the Zita Rock Festival. Very nice location, something like an old castle. And really good bands, a lot of German ones, like Schandmaul, Eisbrecher and Project Pitchfork. My favorite was Apocalyptica, though. Very, very happy that I saw them live again!!!

Again one week later I went to Munich with my mum to see Linkin Park live. It was my birthday present for her. And we both loved the concert. It was brilliant.

And to see Munich from time to time is great, too, it's a wonderful, beautiful city. But a bit small, cause I now have Berlin as a contrast... Either way, Munich's always worth a travel.

In other news: I work and I try to enjoy the weather, whenever it is good enough to be enjoyed. I hope I'll be accepted for Biophysics here in Berlin, that would definitely be my favorite subject...

I jumped down this building:

Actually it's not quite jumping. More like falling. They put such a thing around you and then you'll just fall down. 120m. Shortly before you would hit the concrete, they'll stop you. And that's fun!
Afterwards I couldn't walk straight, my hands were shaking and I was smiling involuntarily all of the time. So, like being on drugs, although I don't know what being on drugs feels like. It's pretty much the perfect happiness.

Easter, Concert, Rollercoasters!!!

Easter was very, very nice. It was sunny and warm and I could spent it with my family. We went to an Easter Fire on Saturday evening. I just love this tradition, it reminds me of my childhood, when we went to such fires all through the year.

And I went to another concert! In Extremo, German medieval metal. Very, very good music and very good concert with lots of good songs and fire and little explosions on stage!

Additionally I found some time for more photos, but that's kind of over for now, I don't have time anymore... But still waiting for some pictures, so more maybe soon... Here's one nice one!

Last weekend I got my share of adrenaline when my mum and I went to an amusement park. I just love rollercoasters and they had some really good there! A so-called dive-coaster with a drop of almost 90°, which I rode seven times in two days. After riding it four times in a row I finally felt sick... Still, that one was fantastic!

Well, I fulfilled a promise. I put on my very ugly working clothes and went through Berlin. I promised that to my colleagues when I quit my old job. A friend of mine, Fredi, took pictures of it. And well, I have to say, she really did a good job with that! Here are some of them:

Mum and I went to two German cities, Quedlinburg and Wernigerode, they are quite in the center of Germany and quite beautiful, full of half-timbered houses and beautiful little streets.

Then I went through Berlin on a Segway. That was amazing! It's so easy to drive this

thing and it's a lot of fun. After a short time it feels pretty natural to just lean forward and actually drive forward. And it was the warmest day so far this year, we had more than 20°C and sun all day long.

Yeah, so, that's about all... Ah, I forgot, i have a job now! I teach students and help them with their homework and their problems in school. I really like it.

Life.... kind of...

So, a lot actually happened. I moved to Berlin some weeks ago and I love it. Berlin is the perfect city, it's so full of life, so beautiful.

My flat is very nice, not as big as my old one, but still big enough. It took time to get here, but it's like returning home, I've been born here, I grew up close by, I somehow went away. But came back.

That's the view from my kitchen. It'll be much better in summer when it's all green out there, that will be beautiful. The view from the living room is a rather busy street, but it's not that bad, not too loud. And everything's close by. Supermarkets, drug stores, hair stylist, money bank, restaurants.

As I already said, I saw My Chemical Romance live. I love them! I got that poster on the concert and I just think it's beautiful and so colorful!!!

And I've been to an exhibition of plastinated humans with a friend to see wether I would vomit when seeing dead bodies, muscles, hearts, babies and so on. I didn't. I thought about studying medicine. I thought again. So no. I'll go with Biochemistry or something like that. I don't want to be a doctor and tell people that they have to die...

In between I found time for that kind of stuff:

I just found some photographers who took pictures of me. Just kind of for fun. Would be cool to earn money with that, but, hey, life isn't a dream. But it's fun to be in front of a camera and have nice pictures of yourself taken.

I saw 30 Seconds To Mars live for the very first time ever, in Oberhausen, Germany, on the 6th of December 2010. It surely was impressive and they just played songs I actually know and mostly liked (I just became a fan with This Is War). And they are masters of self-dramatisation, that's for sure. Sorry, I couldn't take really good pictures, cause I was quite far away, I definitely need a new camera...

Next tour, I guess I'll be there again, it's surely worth it. And by the way, I fractured my foot on the way to the concert and had the feeling it would fall off because of pain, but still had a lot of fun.

Indoor Skydiving

That's definitely something you should try out! It's fun! It's like skydiving, but you don't have to jump out of an airplane. You get into a vertical wind tunnel and just fly. It really feels good, but it's also pretty exhausting.

Saw My Chemical Romance live in Dortmund yesterday. It was impressive. Sadly I couldn't take any amazing pictures, but here are some either way.

Gerard's hair is nice, really, it looks good on him, and apparently everybody else thought so, too, when they started to sing a chorus about having nice hair, which is very well known to Germans...

My favourite songs this evening were Teenagers, Na Na Na (first song, they opened with Look Alive, Sunshine, then played Na Na Na) and Cancer.

I saw Linkin Park live. Twice. Once on Friday in Hamburg and on Thuesday in Frankfurt. Both shows were simply AMAZING.

Thanks to Music For Relief I got to see the show in Frankfurt for free, because I volunteered for MFR and had a lot of fun.

Vacation

I have - surprisingly - a week of vacation. Well, more or less vacation, since I still have to go to University every evening, but at least I don't have to work. And it was really a surprise, since we got to know on Thursday.

I only have to do a practical training in University in the evenings, but I have most of the day off. All for myself!

So, just recently, I actually ate a Pizza, with cheese. Couldn't find any without...

Just recently, I watched an amazing movie, Requiem for a dream. Wow, impressive.

Okay, that's what happened. Not so many amzing things happen right now, I'm just working, learning, and trying to live a happy life :)

Vegan - Day 7

I actually miss something. Pizza. And Icecream. And some other stuff. There's just too less vegan food around here. Plus, my parents don't really approve of the whole thing. I mean, I moved out and stuff, but I drive home often... and well, it's not that easy.

I am definitely going to be a vegetarian for the rest of my life, but the vegan thing might become a problem. I'll still do my best.

Solved the problem with food at work. Just took my own pesto with me and bought some pure noodles and put my pesto on top. Very tasty! But my collegues don't really understand me. Or don't even try to.

And had bread for dinner. So far I don't miss anything. But I might miss the icecream...

Vegan - Day 2

Okay, I need new cereals for breakfast. My old ones had honey inside. So I'll search for better cereals. Everything else is fine so far. I can live with dark chocolate. I can live without butter - I think. The pizza problem still isn't solved. I guess I'll have to make my own pizza from now on. When I find the time.

Next problem: Tomorrow I'll go to work again. I was already nearly starving there when I was only vegetarian - now I have to take all my food with me, since they don't have ANY vegan stuff there. Except for noodles. Without anything.

Good Food: microwave rice, bread with vegan lard, japanese noodles, dark chocolate, Pringels!

Going vegan - day 1

Okay, I decided to do it. I am going vegan! I'll try it out for two weeks at least and then I'll see wether it's possible for me or not. I live in Germany, so not that many vegans around here and not that much vegan food!

Okay, first I went shopping to get some food. I bought bread, vegan tomato spread, vegan lard, spring rolls and some milk-free chocolate. For lunch I had rice with vegetables and tomato sauce. Tasted quite good. And chocolate!

So problems coming up next: How do I explain to my parents? They accepted vegetarian, but vegan??? And pizza. We don't have any vegan pizza here. At least not in supermarkets. But I'll solve that later.

Okay, forgot about the pictures. Here's a real post first. So, I have been at Wacken Open Air three weeks ago and it was fantastic. Good Music, nice people, quite perfect. And last week I've been at Highfield Festival. More good music and some nice people. Saw Billy Talent and Placebo live. Really liked both of them, also I didn't think Placebo would be that good. Really impressive live band actually.

And now I'm just working. And learning, exams are not far away.

I'm back at work, the term at University is over. It's not too stressful, but very, very warm. Luckily I'm allowed to sit around in an air-conditioned little room. I know it's bad for the environment and stuff, but it's really unbearable in a large hall with a glass ceiling.

Next week I'll have my annual leave, three weeks just for myself. I'm going to do a lot of nice stuff, like going to Helsinki and Wacken!

Hey, it's finally summer here! Warm, sunny, just wonderful! Everyday life seems to be so much better when it's warm out there.

University is quite stressful, but it's over soon and then it's back-to-work-time. And holiday-time! I'm going to go to Helsinki in Finland and home to see my parents and friends.

Green Day live in Munich!!!

What a fantastic concert. It was so good. Seeing them live again was very nice and open air it was a wonderful experience in summer. The arena was just huge.... ten thousands of people, I can't guess how many there actually were. Below is a video of Green Day's Pink Rabbit! It comes to stage just before the show starts.

Bullet for my Valentine live!!!!

So, I saw Bullet live for the second time. And it was sick. The concert was in a small club and it was just absolutely amazing!!!

They had two support bands, the first was a californian Band called Dommin. They were pretty good, actually. And the second were the Cancer Bats. Here's a short and not really good video. Sorry for the bad quality, but I wasn't allowed to take my camera and it was just very, very loud.

Well, and then Bullet took the stage! Wow, it was

such a good show, and everybody was singing along and people were moshing all the time. So very powerful. I took some photos with my mobile, but they aren't to good...

And they'll be back in November and December and I'm most definitely going to see them again!!!

I don't really have much to write about... Life's kind of normal, University is quite okay. Not much is happening.

Oh hell, yes! My life is such a mess right now, it's unbelievable. My car is damaged, seriously damaged, I mean. And for once it wasn't my fault. My only friend from old days which lives close to me moves away. It seems I can't get anything done properly. Everything's kind of just crashing down. The only stable thing is my studies, but even that's not really running smoothly. Oh my, what am I going to do?

I finally managed to write this. So, we (me and my boyfriend) were in Spain for five days. It's been warm and sunny and wonderful.

We had a nice hotel in Marbella, here's the view from our balcony:

We also went to Gibraltar, the little point at the end of Spain that belongs to Great Britain. It was very nice there and somehow funny to see the red phone boothes, red busses and all the other typical british stuff in a quite spanish atmosphere.

Ans lots of apes were everywhere there, thankfully none of them stole our food or something!

Spain is very wonderful in spring, not too hot, very wonderful.

We took some long walks along the beach and found some beautiful seashells and my boyfriend even took a swim.

One day we went to Ronda, a city in the mountains with a pretty deep canyon in the middle.

I'd say the time we had in Spain was way to short, but I had to get back to University....

Paderborn

And yet another beautiful german city I finally managed to visit: Paderborn!

It is very nice, much nicer than my hometown. Lots of shopping and historical buildings, churches and nice small and big churches.

And it's finally becoming wonderfully warm here, it's so good to be outside and have the sun shine in your face.

Oh, and for any AFI fans around here or any people who know them, you might recognize this here: it's a church window in the dome in Paderborn.

McDonalds goes green

I saw this sign in my hometown and it reminded me of something I read a while ago: McDonalds wants to change it's background colour from red to green. What does that mean? Okay, green means nature, healthy, ecological. So McDonalds maybe wants to change its image? I mean they already offer salads and Veggie-Burgers, so that's not too far away. I'd actually like more Vegetarian and healthy choices at McDonalds.

But, what could that mean to all of us? McDonalds goes green, what's next?What if CocaCola decides to change from red to blue? Imagine that! Coke gave us the red-cloaked Santa Clause, so will he have to wear blue then? Christmas changing from a red-white-green festive day to blue-silver-grey??? A whole industry would have to change it's production to fit the new Christmas coming down on all of us...

Okay, a green McDonalds sign might not mean the change of the whole world, but maybe a part of our lives might actually change? A green McDonalds? Healthy fast food?

My first semester is over, I got back to working/being a trainee during my semester break, and I'm learning because I have to write my first exams for University. Stressful time ahead.

And it's finally getting warmer here. All the snow outside is gone and it's becoming green and nice outside. Wonderful.

What else? To tell the truth, nothing. I'm trying to get some journeys organised for me and my boyfriend, but it's much more complicated than I thought... I wanted to go to Australia for New Years Eve, but seems that has to wait until next year, so maybe New Years Eve 2011/2012?

It is cold outside, we had new snow and I am getting more and more depressive because of the cold and the lack of sunlight.
Otherwise not much is happening, University is okay and takes nearly all of my time. I'll go home to see my parents in two weeks, next weekend I want to spend with a friend of mine.

Disneyland/Paris - New Years Eve

I thought I write something about university. It's been three month since I started studying engineering and (a bit late) but I'd like to write about my subjects.

CAD (Computer Aided Design) - a mixture of technical drawing and as the name says: Computer Aided Design. The lectures are a bit boring, but drawing and working on the Computer is hard.

Technical Mechanics (TM) - very complicated, the lecture are awful and unstructured and it's very hard to get any of the tasks done.

Mathematics for Engineers I - A lot of repitition of school mathematics, but also some new stuff, explained very complicated.

Computer Science - a short introduction to programming with java.

Chemistry - repitition of school stuff, so everyone who didn't get it in school can now understand it

Factory Business Operations - how to incorporate a factory, how to run it and how to make money.

Mathematics for Engineers III - I don't have to do it just yet, but I do now, so I can study faster. It's much harder than Math I, but I actually like it somehow.

in the moment the city I live in. Right now the problem is: it's snowing, means the streets are full of snow. That's not unusual here. What annoys me, is that no one's cleaning the streets. No snow ploughs, no salt being spread. It's like sliding around the city. Really, where I used to live before the streets we cleaned during the day, in the night, on weekend and on holidays. And it annoys me as hell that here it's simply not done.

New Year in Disneyland/Paris

First: A very late Happy New Year to everybody!I spend it with my boyfriend in Disneyland/Paris! Wonderful, wonderful! We went there by train and slept in a Hotel right at the park. We had loads of fun, rode nearly every attraction, and we went to Paris. Paris still isn't my favourite city, to tell the truth, I pretty much dislike it, but the Eifeltower is nice and Paris is still worth a visit.

Everything was decorated wonderfully for Christmas, there was a giant Christmas-Tree and Santy Claus was there too.

On New Years Eve they had giant, colourful fireworks around the Disney-Castle. They weren' very long, but still wonderful.

It was a wonderful beginning of the year 2010. I love Disney and it was my 6th time at Disneyland/Paris. I love the Rollercoasters, but also the typical Disney-attractions like Snowwhite. It wasn't that cold there, but New Years Eve I was freezing, because it was very late and pretty cold.

We went back home on the 2nd of January, by train, and, wonder oh wonder, the train was on time! It was a wonderful time there.

Since I'm home for some hours I thought I'll post something about Christmas at home. I had a really nice time and got a lot of presents.

We went to the Baltic Sea, too, it was damn cold, but very wonderful.

I think I felt more at home that I did ever in my life. I mean, I moved out some time ago an now coming back to where I used to live makes me feel more at home than ever before.

A late Merry Christmas, everybody!

So, it's already over again. Very fast this year. I spent it with my boyfriend and my parents and grandparents. I received some very nice presents and had a lot of fun.

Actually, it was the first Christmas I really wanted to spend at home, with my family. It was the first since I moved out and somehow I missed home so much the last few month, I am so happy to be here again. But tomorrow I have to go home again...

Just arrived at home yesterday. We are here to celebrate Christmas with my Family and I want to meet some friends from school.

We also went to a wedding on Friday, it was very nice. The bride wore a red dress and looked very beautiful.

We have tons of snow here, but sadly it already strated melting today. It's so beautiful right now, everything is white, but the streets are icy, so driving a car isn't that easy right now.

We (my boyfriend & I) have been in Dresden, we met my parents there. It was pretty cold there, I mean it was actually damn cold, but still it was a wonderful weekend.

There are loads of Christmas markets in Dresden and we went to at least five of them. The best is always the medieval market, it's beautiful, but it got smaller, because one year it burnt down, and now they are not allowed to light everything with fire. But it's still beautiful.

Too much is going on right now and I need a 36-hour-day to get everything done.

University of course is still a lot of work, but it's also fun, in a way. I discovered that I'm completely fascinated by computer science, I never thought I'd even like it, but now I love it.

Christmas is getting closer and I already bought Christmas-presents, just the one for my boyfriend still is a problem. This weekend we'll go to Dresden. It's a Christmastime-tradition in my family, and thankfully it's possible again this year.

And then there's only one week of University left, then a wedding, then going home to celebrate Christmas with my family, visiting relatives, going back here again, and then it's time to go to Disneyland.

So, that's all so far. I'll post pictures of everything that's going to happen, so some more posts in the near future!

It' Christmas Time!

My first Christmas since I moved out. I'm going to drive home to celebrate Christmas with my family, either way, so I'm still going to be at home this Christmas.

Here in Kassel a christmas market opened a few days ago, it's really beautiful!

This weekend we (me and my boyfriend) are going to bake christmas cookies and get into a kind of Christmas-Time-mood...

University is labour-intensive and students are still occupying a lecture hall.

I just booked a trip for New Year's Eve. We are going to be in Disneyland (Paris)! I'm so happy, I always wanted to go there for New Year's Eve or Christmas (or both), but this is already so fantastic!

Okay, maybe I was unfair. Some things here might need to be changed, but still I'd like to have the lecture hall back. Seems like other students might not be as happy here as I am, but whatever, occupying a lecture hall is still, in my opinion, the wrong way.

Maybe you heard it in the news, or maybe not, but students in Germany started "fighting for their rights" by occupying lecture halls in universities. Today they took over a lecture hall in my university in Kassel.

My personal opinion is the following: 1) Maybe they are right and some things need to be changed here

2) Occupying lecture halls definitely is the wrong way, other students can't learn like this

3) I don't see any reason to do that here in Kassel, the university is much better than any other I heard of

So, I seriously was angry today when I wanted to go to mathematics and the lecture hall was full of people saying things like "We need less work!".

Really, sometimes I think these people just don't want to learn.

Their Motto here was: "Appetite for knowledge, not frustration because of pressure to perform" (I did my best to translate this, in German it rhymes). For me that sound a lot like "We don't want to learn", but that's my opinion.

Going home

I went home to see my parents last weekend and I finally found the time to post some pics. In my hometown the annual "Martinimarkt" took place, a funfair. It is, or better was in the past, a celebration of St. Martin, a holy man who shared his coat with a freezing, poor man. Today it's amusement.

I also introduced my boyfriend to my parents, it went really good, I thought it would end up being a catastrophy.

Sunday we, me, my boyfriend and my parents, went to Berlin. I liked being there again, I quite miss it now that I'm not close anymore.

I also met a friend of mine who still lives in my hometown. It was nice seeing her again and talking about all he things that have been happening since we last saw each other.

So, two weeks at University are over, and I really like it so far. These two weeks we had a lot of free time, because most tutorials start next week. But it's going to be full then. I have to start at 6:30 every Tuesday, because mathematics is so full and I have till 8:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. But of course some spares in between.

I really like my University here in Kassel (Germany). It is not too big and they really care for their students.

That's a picture I found on the Internet. The University sometimes looks more like a holiday park than a place to learn, but it's very nice. Only a bit chaotic, you won't find any rooms as a new student.

I saw Green Day live!!! Wow, that was more than amazing! They played old songs and new songs and were crazy. We had Billie Joe running around in the hall, a torch-light La Ola, a pink rabbit on stage, fans singing (on stage), everyone in front of the stage was wet and covered with toilet paper, shirts were shot into the audience and amazing music! Oh did I mention things like fire on stage, fireworks an little explosions?

Seems I'm not blogging much. Actually a lot is happening, but I don't know what to write about it. Work is pretty exhausting, but I've got just one week of work left before I go to University. I'm quite happy about that. My boyfriend is moving and I have to help him, that's a stressful thing and I'm happy he's not moving far away. Weather here is getting worse every day, winter's not too far away. I'm desperately trying to get along with the German bureaucracy, it's killing me right now. That's all so far. Next weeks are going to get much more interesting, I'm starting at University, Green Day concert, shopping, Agonoize concert.... I'm going to write about it.

IAA in Frankfurt

We (my colleagues and I) visited the IAA (International Motor Show, see here) in Frankfurt/Main yesterday. It was pretty nice, but in my opinion we stayed much too long. I spent a lot of time at BMW and at Volkswagen, of course, they are my employers.

BMW presented the new BMW 5 Gran Turismo. It's beautiful, I think.

There was a lot to do and a lot to see and at the end of the day i was totally exhausted, but it was nice. Next year we might go there again.

I didn't like the Mercedes Area so much, the lightning and the music was somehow disturbing, it changed all the time. You couldn't really concentrate on the cars. Most other exhibitors, like VW and BMW, presented their cars much clearer.

After three or four hours I had seen enough, but the others wanted to stay much longer, so we arrived back home quite late.

Wow, seems I haven't been blogging for an eternity. So a short update of what has happened. I had my birthday last weekend, I'm nineteen now, so I'm officially old. Work was stressful and exhausting, standing next to a machine for about six or seven hours a day is hard. But I learned how to mill and soon we'll move on to drilling. I saw Inglorious Basterds in cinema and hated it. Yesterday I went to a medieval night in a nightclub, that was nice.

Tomorrow I'll go on a short trip with my collegues at work, we have a kind of seminar. And on wednesday we'll go to the IAA, the International Automobile Exhibition here in Germany (see here). And next weekend I'll finally go home and see my parents and grandparents and our house again. I'll miss all of it terribly.

Maybe I'll post some photos of what's going to happen.

YES; YES; YES!!!!! I saw AFI live! It was so wonderful, I am so happy, I can't put it into words!So, they played everything, or nearly everything, I wanted to hear, and they played "Love is a many splendored thing". My personal highlight was "Days of the Phoenix".

It was definitely worth going through all the trouble it was getting there. Hopefully the'll come to Germany again when they have their new album out.

First week at work..

... is nearly over. I've learned some things, like how to file metal! We had a lot of bureaucracy to do and a lot of information were given to me and my new collegues. They are nice, my collegues, I mean, we already got to know each other quite well. We are going to learn a lot of things in the near future, until we go to University in October. I'd like to post some photos, but I'm not allowed to take any kind of pictures during work. No cameras are allowed, no mobiles with cameras or anything. So, no pictures. More updates coming soon.

In the house I live in, so where my apartement is, live a lot of nice people, but also some who listen to loud, annoying music. So much and loud, and in the middle of the night that I had to call the police, since I can't sleep when their music is on. So lets see how this goes on. If they don't stop this I'll but up a fight.

Well otherwise everything's fine here, Monday will be my first day at work, it'll get hard, I guess.

My new home

Since I moved about a week ago, I thought I post some photos of my new home, Kassel, the city I moved to.

That's the main shopping street, it does not really look nice, but with some sun it's nice.

There are also a lot of historic buildings here, centuries old and very beautiful. And a lot of parks and green. Furthermore there are a lot of museums I still have to visit.

All in all I have to say that I like the city, it's not that big, but much bigger than my old home. I like to live here already, just after one week. I hope it will stay that way.

About moving...

Moving isn't easy. Actually moving out was easy enough, moving in is the harder part. My new apartement still looks like a waste dump. I don't get to do anything else than putting up shelves, filling them with books and other stuff, cleaning up, getting all the things I need, setting up my TV and so on and so on. Well, next weekend everything has to be finished, work starts and I'll have no more time for this. At least I have some lights by now, otherwise I'd really have a problem...

WOA 2009, Bands 2

Really good were also the German bands who played at Wacken Open Air. The picture above is Subway To Sally, the last band that played. Another band was In Extremo, a band who sings in German, Latin and Gaelic.

The first band I saw was Schandmaul, they sing in German, too. Their style is a kind of Folk-Metal, just like In Extremo and Subway To Sally. Just look them up on YouTube.

I also saw Rabenschrey and Feuerschwanz, two other German bands who mostly make Medieval music, it's a lot of fun watching them on stage.

Heaven Shall Burn was definitely one of the best acts, in my opinion. A great band, they have a lot of power on stage. And the people freaked out.

Of course, my personal highlight was Bullet For My Valentine, but I already mentioned that.

Walls of Jericho was really a surprise. Their singer (female!) is

good as hell. I loved it.

The people I went to Wacken with wanted to talk me out of going to see Endstille, a German Band. Okay, somehow they were right. The music wasn't that bad, but the singer....

So, I moved to Kassel yesterday. I already had a lot of things to do here, bureaucracy for the most part. My flat looks like a bomb exploded in here. But at least I got my internet running. I will have a lot of work in the next days, but I'll post some more Wacken stuff in the next days.

My first W:O:A! And it was fantastic. Five days camping, party, music, fun.

We arrived Wednesday morning at the campsite and first put up our tents. In the evening the first bands played. But the actual festival started on thursday afternoon, the headliner of the evening was "Heaven and Hell".

Friday evening one of my favourite bands, Bullet For My Valentine, took the stage. I was sooooooo happy.

Other bands I saw were Walls of Jericho, In Flames, Gamma Ray, Motörhead, Heaven Shall Burn, In Extremo, Subway to Sally and some others...

It was my first time at W:O:A, but I'm definitely back next year!!!

Warnemünde, Baltic Sea

Spend one night at the Baltic Sea, in Warnemünde. It is like a ritual, we (means me and my mom) go there at least once a year.

This time we had a lot of rain and it was quite cold. We got wet and we were freezing, but it was still nice.

If you ever happen to go there, try the Mexican Restaurant behind the old lighthouse, across the street. It's called "Salsarico" and it's really tasty, cheap and the waitresses are fast and friendly. Five to Six pm. is Cocktail hour, really recommended.

Warnemünde is really nice and certainly worth a visit. Or more visits, like coming back every year.

Short Trip

So, we went to Stuttgart on Thursday and got back today. We saw two musicals, Wicked and We Will Rock You. Both were fantastic.

Stuttgart is a quite nice city, but not beautiful or something. There was a wonderful park close to our hotel. Stuttgart has some good hotels, restaurants, shops and some sights, but it's surroundings are much nicer. Ludwigsburg has a nice baroque residence and the quite well known city of Heidelberg isn't far away.

We went to Heidelberg, too. It is nice, but if you really want to see something, go to Tübingen. It's much nicer, not so full of tourists. Heidelberg is, for some reason, very well known, but actually other cities are much, much nicer, that's my personal opinion, anyway.

We all received a fish in our graduation service as symbol of our school time. The fish is an old christian symbol, therefore this is the symbol of our school, for it is a lutheranian school. The writing says "Abi '09", Abi is short for Abitur (=graduation).

That's the back of the shirts we all received for graduation. The names of all members of our year make up this wand.
